I was born in Detroit, Michigan, USA. in 1957 and was raised in Santa Barbara, California. Our family later moved to Winnipeg and to Qualicum Bay, Vancouver Island, BC. I completed a B.A. French (Honours) at UBC in 1980, a Masters in French at University of Manitoba in 1987 and my doctorate in French also at University of Manitoba in 1997. Over the years I have worked at several occupations, including librarian, translator, hamburger slinger, public school teacher for all grades. Since 1992, I have been a professor of French language and literature at Mount Saint Vincent University. Current rank: associate professor.
My hobbies include reading books and poems of all sorts, playing chess, basketball and tennis. I love cats. Aside from working at the Mount, I do a weekly French radio show on CKDU, 88.1 FM, called " Trois beaux canards " and I am currently on the board of the Alliance française of Halifax.
I believe, along with Tommy Douglas, that it is never too late to make a better world.
